I've been teaching music in many different capacities for eight years now. Most recently, I served as the music instructor/curriculum designer for Manhattan Youth at The Computer School. Privately, I've taught students of all ages and experience levels, with focuses on saxophone sound, technique, music theory, aural skills, reading music, and improvisation. My performance experience includes classical clarinet and saxophone repertoire, jazz, klezmer, funk, rock, rb, country, pop, disco, latin, and folk music, allowing me to relate to students from a broad range of interests and experience levels. I'm a dedicated and passionate multi-instrumentalist and composer and have been sharing my love of music with students of all ages since 2009. I studied jazz performance at the New England Conservatory of Music and my curiosity in other styles of music has led me to branch out into classical music, rock, electronic, and a variety of folk musics from different parts of the world. As a Saxophonist and Clarinetist I prescribe to the Joe Allard method of embouchure and technique that has been codified and popularized by saxophone master and pedagog, Dave Liebman, from whom I have taken countless classes. For my classical students, I like to use the Rubank method books. For more advanced students, I am a huge fan of the Rose Studies for Clarinet and the Ferling studies for Saxophone. Both of these books not only provide great etudes for technique but also are great studies in musicality, theory and interpretation. Read More
