I studied with two jazz masters and teach as they did. Playing is my first profession and passion and I get to do that almost every day playing music wellness programs in healthcare facilities, community centers and even private homes. I am happy to share my expertise with anyone willing to commit to the time it takes to grow as a flutist and as a musician. Read More
Instruments: Piano Music Keyboard
I am comfortable teaching with many piano methods. Some of my favorites include Alfred, Faber and A Dozen a Day Series. For more advanced students, I often recommend the Music for Millions Series or Bastien Piano Literature. For jazz, I often use Hal Leonard's "Your First Fake Book" and the "Joy of Jazz". All my students also get a strong foundation in scales and theory. I also stress learning all the notes on the grand staff and there are many good apps for this on tablets and smart phones. Read More
Instruments: Cello
I truly appreciate all efforts to produce sound. I am never bored or impatient! My approach to my students is informal, unpressured and encouraging. I play with my students all the time, creating occasions for performance and giving my students contexts for taking pride in their musical achievements. I feel that playing should not be an isolating experience but something to be shared. I organize groups every year: beginner and advanced kids; beginner, intermediate and advanced adults. Read More
Instruments: Voice

Of course with everyone, we will increase vocal range and experiment with what areas of style need more work than others, for example some may need to work harder at belting than head voice, and so on. The most important things in my opinion are warmup techniques, breath support, examining correct space, finding the lift in the soft palate, and letting go of any tension, especially in the jaw area, as it is not a part of the process! Instruments: Piano Keyboard
I just love to see my students develop a passion for music, especially helping to discover and develop a love of music they didn't even know they had! Each student is unique, so I work with students and their parents to develop personalized goals to help them develop as musicians. I try to be liberal in my encouragement and help my students reach for goals they didn't even know were possible. Read More
Instruments: Drums
I started playing drums when I was 10 years old in my elementary school band. Quickly, I became hooked to practicing and getting better and growing as a musician. I also fell in love with music and it's healing abilities. As a teenager, I played in my high school concert band, jazz band and had my own rock bands outside of school. I was hungry for anything to make me a better drummer. Read More
