My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 15 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 10 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I've been living in Manhattan for the last five years, where I studied at The Juilliard School with Itzhak Perlman, Li Lin, and Catherine Cho for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. For the last two years I've been serving as Teaching Assistant to Itzhak Perlman and Li Lin at Juilliard. I've had the good fortune of performing internationally as soloist with orchestras around the world, including the National Orchestra of Belgium, the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Weimar (Germany), The Lithuanian National Orchestra, and the California Symphony.        I have taught music since 1994, when I was in college. What was at first a part time job blossomed into a full time job when local music stores and luthiers began recommending me. I have a strong roster of about 30 students, and maintain it mostly through word of mouth and recommendations. I teach out of my private studio, as well as people's homes. My work with the DCYOP, an El-Sistema inspired program, involves teaching the basics of playing the violin, viola, cello and music theory, adjudicating students’ progress, leading sectionals and full rehearsals in various DC schools, some from the most underserved communities. Highlights are having all the different schools come together for a large performance at the Kennedy Center and the students performances with Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell and Esperanza Spalding. I’ve also facilitated many youth orchestra performances and summer camps as string teaching artist in DC and Maryland showcasing that I can motivate the students to a high quality performance regardless of the amount of time.
