For humor, creativity, and fun are a big part of how I teach. At the same time I am serious about being disciplined in regular practice. I try to find out what my students are passionate about and use that as motivation. One thing I do compared to my past teachers is use technology. Frankly this technology did not exist when I was young! I often "sample" musical phrases and have them play on a loop. Read More

At all levels (beginner-advanced), I teach piano performance, technique, music theory, ear training, and sight reading. My curriculum follows the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) standards, and students are strongly encouraged to take RCM examinations as they progress through each level. Although every student's piano journey will look different based on their musical goals, preferences, etc., the RCM standards provide guidelines upon which I design a personal curriculum for each student. I've been learning music since 3 years old, starting from listening to my grandparents sing every morning, to taking classical and voice lessons. I've been a passionate thinker of music, and I always try to bring the element of thinking and reflecting to my students. In 2020 I graduated from Berklee College of Music with Voice and Piano as my principal instruments, as well as earning a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet
My approach to teaching is centered around whether the student is having fun. My goal is never to force anyone to become a professional in our lessons. If you want to get to that level I can certainly help, but I am more concerned about having fun playing trumpet and piano. We will do a lot of listening homework as well, since listening is just as important as playing. A lot of my students so far really appreciate that balance and the break between playing their instruments. Read More

I teach classical music exclusively. My strategy for utterly inexperienced students is to remove from the equation the difficulty of reading a music score, and just allow the hands to "learn" the keyboard by having the student repeating short musical sentences (either preexisting or improvised by me on the spot). Once familiarity with the keyboard has been achieved, or if the student already reads music, we move on to his or her first book, and I tend to favor Nancy and Randall Faber's Piano Adventures. For beginning students, I typically start with Hanon exercises to improve manual strength and dexterity. At the same time, these exercises can help students to learn to sightread, and I will give an additional lecture on musical notation with written material for reference at no charge if necessary. After one or two weeks, I usually assign simple Bach pieces or appropriate solo repertoires to experience music right under their fingertips. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Music
My teaching style is me. I work one on one with each individual student as to their age, ability and how they learn. No one size fits all and each individual learns the same concept a bit differently. I make sure both piano and voice students understand fully what the lessons are about so they can practice at home and move forward, and understand. We have fun because I'm nuts...have a sense of humor. Read More
