I love all of the arts and wish to share my love and knowledge with students of all ages. I have had the privilege of working with some of the most amazing professional in the music and opera industry. I can not wait to share these experiences with new to advanced musicians.
My students describe me as genuine and passionate with a youthful, energetic teaching style. Lessons are always enjoyable and productive. I show my students techniques to focus, and get more done with less wasted time. I cater my lessons to fit the student's learning style and to maximize potential. Music is truly a passion for me and I enjoy seeing my students grow! My creativity and patience allow me to explain concepts that may have stumped you in the past. Every week we will set goals that will keep you motivated and excited.
I'm a passionate educator who loves working with students of all ages and sharing my move of music. In 2014, I graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor af Arts degree in Music Performance/Education. Performing with the Concordia Music ensembles has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I have had the oppurtunity of touring to multiple places with both the choir and the band. I also participated in the Musical Les Miserables with the Sherwood Arts Foundation. While performing with them I was able to grow more into myself as a musician.
In the immortal words of Henry David Thoreau, "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." Everyone has a different learning style, a different outlook on life. As such, I create custom lesson plans tailored to each individual player's goals. All students generally start with a solid foundation of fundamentals, which includes both playing technique as well as music theory. Then, at the pace of the student, I introduce solo literature and etudes in the musical style they are most interested in learning. Literature is chosen with specific teaching goals in mind. Each lesson is designed to be engaging, positive, and most importantly, FUN! After each lesson, my students take a "homework" list for practice purposes which is designed to be the topic of the next week's lesson.

The flute can be an incredibly rewarding instrument to study as an adult. Of the woodwind instruments, it can relatively easy to learn to play and most adults notice progress right away! The flute can be a wonderful instrument to play as a soloist or with fellow musicians.
While flutes are relatively inexpensive compared to the other woodwinds, Musika suggests renting an instrument for beginning players. As the player becomes more advanced the student can consider purchasing a more advanced model with open-hole keys and a B foot joint. For young players who are smaller in size, the student can consider using a curved head joint (called a ""candy cane"" head joint) to facilitate playing.
On of Musika's unique offers is that we provide in-home lessons for no additional cost. This allows the student to save the time and money that would normally be spent traveling to a studio.
The flute is the one of the smallest instrument in the band and is therefore easy for young players to transport and hold. Musika recommends beginning the flute around 7 or 8 when the student is old enough to properly hold the instrument and press the keys. The flute does take significant amount of lung capacity, so the player does need to have the physical requirements to produce a quality sound.
Musika offers customized lessons for each student. Additionally, teachers will focus on posture, breathing, tone, articulation, note-reading, and instrument care. Musika's network of teachers want every student to excel and they will do their best to help each player realize his or her potential!

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Rachel. We met her through CYT where my daughter took theater classes from Rachel and was directed by Rachel in several musicals. Because Rachel was so wonderful to work with and so clearly talented at teaching and directing, several years ago, my daughter started private vocal lesson with her and I have seen my daughter's vocal abilities grow in leaps and bounds. Rachel is an ace at picking music to work on that stretches abilities while at the same time, keeps vocal lessons fun. I highly recommend her as a voice and theater coach.

Michael is exactly what I was looking for in a teacher. The first thing he did was to determine what I wanted to get out of lessons, and what my existing skill level is. He is now aiming me in the right direction - and he is clearly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable, in addition to being very easy to get along with. I'm very happy.

Angela is a phenomenal teacher. She is full of charisma and is a joy to work with. Most of my experience with her has been focused on working in the Alexander Technique and she seems very knowledgeable in this study. I would highly recommend her to any prospective student. I have seen myself improve dramatically in a few short weeks with her guidance (and much practice of course!)

Rebecca has been super with my son! He is 8yrs old and has mild aspergers. He has never played an instrument before but after one lesson with his teacher he could keep a beat on his drums. She is able to keep his attention and really makes it fun! She is flexible and easy going. I highly recommend her for any lessons. Very nice teacher! Thank you Rebecca for your outstanding service!!

Gina is very supportive and encouraging. Even though I get frustrated with my progress, she can tell that I've been practicing and reminds me of how far I've come. She challenges me to learn new skills without giving me a piece that I cannot master (with practice). I'm happy that she is my music teacher and look forward to many more lessons in the future.

I've been taking lessons from Michael once a week for eight weeks now, and with his help I have made dramatic improvements with my sax. Michael is a funny, nice, patient and all around great instructor. I'd recommend Michael, as an instructor, to anyone who wants to improve their skills and have fun while doing it.

My son is truly enjoying his lessons with Chris. He looks forward to them and is motivated to practice. Chris is conscientious and shows up on time and whenever he is supposed to. He communicates clearly if rescheduling is ever required and is accommodating when we need to change the day. I would recommend Chris to anyone.

I really like her. And as an adult student, a good teacher who keeps the pace up but still keeps it reasonable in terms of difficulty is really hard to find. She does a great job of explaining little detail things in terms I (as a musically challenged human) can understand. I'm having a blast! 10/10 would recommend!

I started taking voice lessons from Ali when I was 19 and a sophomore in college. Though I was hesitant to be starting "late", I felt very comfortable with Ali and her teaching style. We identified several key issues that really made a difference and improved my voice technique. It was fun to sing popular, beautiful songs in our recital! If only I lived in Los Angeles, I would still be a student. Highly recommended!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
