Instruments: Piano Flute Piccolo

I began teaching private lessons in 2005, and I have a variety of teaching experiences. I have since substitute taught every kind of subject, and I've taught general music K-5.  I have mentored conservatory level students when I was in grad school, I taught flute to non-flute music education majors, and I've taught undergraduate students that were pre-music.  I taught 3-8 year olds music at Laurel Hill Summer Camp in East Setauket, Long Island. I've also taught workshops on South American Folk Music with Alturs Duo, as well as flute masterclasses. Instruments: Piano Guitar Trombone

I'm an enthusiastic, energetic, kind and dedicated music instructor. As passionate as I am about music, I am even more so about the students I teach. I graduated from the University of Connnecticut, Storrs, with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 1972, and a Master of Music degree, with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy in 1980. As an undergraduate my major instruments were piano and trombone. I was in the UConn Marching Band and had the great fortune to perform on my trombone in Europe during the 1970 Marching Band Tour. Instruments: Piano Voice Music Keyboard

I love sharing the joys of music with people. Teaching others helps me to learn about my own instruments as music is an ever-evolving, ever-learning art form. I appreciate motivated and dedicated students. I have a wealth of knowledge of all genres or music but, for the voice, I only teach classical, musical theater and jazz techniques. If you are looking to learn to sing Pop or RB, I am not the right instructor for you. Read More

Instruments: Piano

Every student learns differently and progresses at a different rate. In order to keep my students motivated, I balance tasks that each student finds easy and enjoyable with tasks that are more challenging. My students know that if they say something is too hard, I will ask them to try it again another way, using their strategies to problem solve. Most of the time, they find that it isn't too hard after all, which boosts their confidence. Read More

Instruments: Piano Organ

I believe that everyone has their own speed to accomplish their goals. I know how hard to keep practicing and performing from my own experience. However I want them to experience the satisfaction of accomplishment which only the players can experience. That's why I am very patient and supportive of every step a student takes and needs no matter how long or how hard it takes. I believe that everyone can enjoy learning piano and share the power of music which is the soul food for every human being. Read More

I am a recent graduate of the University of Connecticut music department holding a bachelor's degree in music - vocal performance. I currently sing for a number of professional choirs, and teach private voice, piano, and guitar. I took voice lessons for 8 years, piano for 15, and guitar for 9. I have been grateful to perform in venues such as Carnegie Hall, as well as travel and perform in various locations in the US and abroad. Read More

Instruments: Piano Music

For beginners I typically start with the Bastien or Faber Method and as their level increases I always assign pieces outside of the piano method which are generally performed at their first recital. Adults are also welcome to participate and I have them work on at least 2 contrasting pieces based on skills they may need to work on as well as something they love and enjoy learning. I do give basics importance (scales, arpeggios, etc) as I believe this greatly improves a student's understanding and helps them reach a much higher level in the repertoire they are working on. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
