I will always listen to what students want to learn and play but at the same time will introduce them to music they aren’t familiar with. To be a great musician you have to be well rounded in different styles of music. I will also encourage students to express their emotions through what they play because I believe music can be very therapeutic and sometimes people have a hard to expressing themselves through talking. 4 to 6 year olds - I ask that they know their alphabet, and I will take care of the rest. I feel it should be just a fun experience and practicing should not be forced, but encouraged. I implore prizes and techniques that make learning fun and a great first experience. 7 years and up - Music requires practice and I will teach the student how to practice, what to practice, and require that they practice. My teaching experience dates back to my undergraduate days, as I began teaching private lessons part-time 7 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students all across the globe in the US, Singapore, and Taiwan. I have worked with beginner, intermediate, and advanced players and adjusted to their needs accordingly, as well as gained valuable knowledge on how to efficiently resolve the difficulties encountered by the students. My own experience with how my teacher taught me also inspired me to have acquired many problem-solving skills and I aspire to pass down those abilities to my students. Read More

I am an avid singer, voice teacher, and music director. I spend the majority of my time performing and training others to perform. I am a tenor but am capable of training all voice types. My main avenues of performance are on the recital, and musical theater stages. I just finished up a production of "Children of Eden" in which I performed as Cain. I received degrees in both vocal performance and music education from Florida Gulf Coast University. Read More

More important than vocal and piano technique, it is also important to me that my students have and continue to build a healthy strong self esteem. At times songs are chosen to help students feel more positive about themselves, and having healthy enlightening dialogue in the lyrics encouraging them not to give up, and believe in themselves and to dream the biggest dreams. When a student feels great about who they are, them performing great follows suit. Read More

For all beginning students, I like to start out with buzzing exercises and embouchure technique. This is the most fundamental part of brass playing. Having a strong foundation in creating a sound consistently and efficiently makes learning everything else about brass playing infinitely easier. For this, I use the Arban method book and the "Buzzing Book" by James Thompson. Once these fundamentals start to become comfortable, I like to introduce some simple songs to apply the new techniques to. Read More

My basic teaching philosophy is "If a student can't learn the way I teach I will teach the way they learn". It's a personalized approach. For children I typically start with John Thompson's Teaching Little Fingers To Play as a basic piano lesson book. When the student starts progressing to the point where they can play fairly well I try to explore others books and songs that may interest them and keep them motivated. Read More
