I am enthusiastic about sharing all that I have learned with future students. I have given many different solo and collaborative performances all over the eastern United States. In the collaborative field, I have accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists. I have been the principal pianist in various orchestras and have performed piano in many different ensembles that championed traditional and contemporary works. I'm a creative and versatile violin/viola instructor who loves working with students of any age! I graduated from UNC Asheville in 2012 with a degree in Violin Performance, where I developed a special passion for chamber music. I currently perform with the Charlotte Civic Orchestra, where I have sat in as Concertmaster occasionally. At the first lesson is just seeing where they are and what kind of music they would want to play(hymnal songs, gospel songs, soundtracks, opera, classical etc). Then at the beginning of each lesson would be theory(note recognition, counting, fingering etc). Then review on what they practiced for the week and if they are confident with the pieces add a few more songs. At Christmas time and the end of spring I like to have to have a recital for the students to play a few of the songs they learned for their friends and family.  Read More

I often teach by using a book of my choice as a lesson guide.I generally start every lesson by practicing finger exercises by running up and down the neck and also practice alternating the fingers with the picking hand.This is proper technique that will develop great speed and also great tone.After the exercises we go through the lessons outlined in the book.At the end of each lesson,I give my students, assignments to practice in their spare time ,which are based on the exercises from book.They are usually things that we have gone through during the lessons.I encourage my students to call or text me if it's something that they don't understand.I am more than happy to be of assistance.
