I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with musicians of all backgrounds and levels. In 2019 I graduated from UMass Amherst with a BM in Jazz studies and a BS in environmental science. Studying with Eric Berlin (principal trumpet of the Albany Symphony Orchestra) and Jeff Holmes (grammy winning piano and trumpet player) informed my knowledge of trumpet technique and music theory. I love to teach students of all ages. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Since 2009, I worked with a distinguished Professor Mate Bekavac on specialized approaches to the standards of music pedagogy. As a result, I have developed a teaching method, which combines ‘awareness instruction method’, with basic teachings in music. For that reason, I first learn about the student: their interests, their strengths, their struggles, and the way that they see the world. By paying attention to what inspires the student and how they take in information most effectively, I can successfully tailor my instruction. I am a fairly laid back person, and understand that my students have wide-ranging activities and priorities. For younger beginning students, I typically start with either the Suzuki Guitar Method or Alfred's Kid's Guitar Course 1. For older children, I typically start with either the Suzuki Guitar Method or Guitar for Kids: Hal Leonard Guitar Method. Students are able to progress through the Suzuki Guitar Method through multiple volumes, or move through the Hal Leonard Guitar Method - Book 1 and continue through subsequent method books. For a classical guitar approach, I use the Suzuki Guitar Method, the Fredrick Noad Method Books, and the Christopher Parkening Guitar Method Book. Read More
