My goal is to make the student as independent of the teacher as possible. For this I help them form a foundation on which they can build for years to come. I teach reading music as well as playing by ear (a wonderful skill rarely taught on the piano). In addition to seeing music through each individual student's eyes, I foster a sense of community by encouraging communication, coordinating chamber music and performing recitals, and providing other means of continued learning. I make myself available via email and phone, always doing everything I can to continue the students' engagement outside of their lesson. I, myself, is a very passionate performer. My enthusiasm in music making is what kept me going all these years. and I believe it is the very thing that would motivate and encourage a student to practice and learn.
