Every student progresses at their own pace. I write out the homework for the week on a piece of paper for both them and the parent to see. When their expectations are written out, it's easier to see how far they've progressed. Most of my lessons start out with asking how their week went and how much practice they were able to get in. We then review the material from the week before and talk about the progress or any difficulties they may have come across during the week. Read More

I organized regular student recitals twice a year, fostering a platform for my students to showcase their talent. Through dedicated instruction, I guided my students to achieve remarkable accomplishments, including securing second place in the prestigious German Piano Competition. Currently, I have returned to the United States and provide private lessons. As a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC), I have successfully coached numerous students to earn State Honor awards in the CM (Certificate of Merit) tests. Read More

For beginning students, we typically begin with Essential Elements while discovering fundamentals of the instrument and getting a handle on reading bass clef and rhythms. This of course varies on a student's previous experience or comfort with reading music. We progress from there into appropriate etudes that can be quite melodic and entertaining to practice and then beginning solo repertoire, and advance from there. I always encourage students to have a goal piece in mind that they would like to play, especially my adult students, so we can frame our goals around that and set up a plan of action as we move forward. I started teaching at 11. People heard me play, and they wanted their children to learn. I found that I loved teaching and when I went to college I took the pedagogy course. I found it totally inadequate. It did not teach you how to deal with your student or their parents. I want my students to learn and although most will have music as a hobby I want everyone to play the best they possibly can. Read More

Music should be fun. Plain and simple thats why I believe and that is whats kept me pushing forward. Its not going to always be an easy experience learning new things but that does not mean it cannot be fun. I want my students to feel like they are more than enough to play this song or sing that song. I want my students to believe in themselves as much as I believe in them. Read More

I think the most important thing for a teacher is to have good communication, patience, and guidance. Let the students grow up under proper pressure. My teaching center is to train every student to think and create music itself. I think music theory and all kinds of instruments are tools to express music. It is my goal to teach students how to use music theory and their instruments to build music ideas, and guide students to view the world in the way of music ideas and build their own music palace. I am passionate and hard-working. A great deal of my free time is spent recording and producing music. I enjoy watching my students grow as much as I enjoy finding new ways of growing and learning myself. I am often most inspired by the raw and vulnerable, simple and yet hear-wrenching melodies I come across. Moments as a listener, when a melodic theme takes over and everything else seems to dim out, almost as background noise, are my absolute farovite. Read More
