I’m Amir H, a classical guitarist and music educator with over two decades of teaching and performance experience. I hold a Doctorate in Music from the University of Montreal, a Master of Music in Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK, and an Advanced Certificate in Music from the University of Toronto. My academic training has given me a strong foundation in classical guitar technique, music theory, and music history, which I bring into every lesson. I’ve taught students of all levels—from beginners to advanced musicians—and I tailor my instruction to meet each student’s goals. My teaching combines a deep understanding of classical tradition with practical strategies for growth, aiming to cultivate musicality, discipline, and confidence. Whether you're preparing for exams, auditions, or personal enrichment, I’m committed to guiding you on your musical journey with professionalism and passion.
I have over 20 years of experience teaching classical guitar, music theory, and history to students of all ages and levels. My academic background includes a Doctorate in Music from the University of Montreal, a Master’s in Guitar Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK, and an Advanced Certificate from the University of Toronto. I’ve taught in private studios, universities, and music schools, and have prepared students for RCM and ABRSM exams, competitions, and university auditions. My teaching emphasizes strong technical foundation, stylistic interpretation, and historical context. I strive to inspire each student to develop both their skill and musical voice through a structured yet engaging approach.
My teaching method combines classical tradition with a personalized, goal-oriented approach. I emphasize proper technique, musical expression, and a clear understanding of theory and historical context. I use structured materials such as RCM and ABRSM syllabi for technique and repertoire, and integrate ear training, sight-reading, and interpretation into each lesson. I tailor my approach to each student’s strengths, challenges, and interests, ensuring balanced progress. Whether preparing for exams, auditions, or personal growth, students receive consistent feedback and motivation. My goal is to cultivate not just skilled guitarists, but well-rounded, independent musicians who can think critically and play with confidence and artistry.
My teaching style is supportive, structured, and adaptable to each student’s unique learning pace and goals. I create a positive and focused environment where students feel encouraged to explore their potential while building discipline and confidence. I balance technical work with musical expression, combining detailed feedback with motivation and patience. I believe in developing the whole musician—not just the guitarist—by integrating listening, analysis, and creative thinking into lessons. Whether working with beginners or advanced players, I maintain high standards while keeping lessons engaging and inspiring. I adjust my communication style based on age and experience to ensure clarity, growth, and enjoyment in every session.
