AA degree from Los Angeles College of Music 2012
I am a teacher that loves to play and I'm obsessed with everything drums. I studied at the L.A. College of Music under some great teachers such as Ralph Humphrey(Frank Zappa,Dancing with the stars etc.),Joe Porcaro(Toto,Frank Sinatra,Barbara Streisand etc.),Gary Ferguson(Cher,Eddie Money,Garey Moore,New Radicals etc.) and studied odd-time meters,funk,rock,pop,country,jazz,be-bop jazz, contemporary jazz, big band,fusion,afro-cuban,brazilian drums etc.
I have been teaching for 7 years and under those years I have taught first timers and more advanced players and helped players get better at drums. I first started teaching friends kids and it grew from there and more people asked for lessons and I made more time for it and really feel in love with teaching. After this time teaching I feel I have a better grasp of what tools a student needs to get better at drums and how to get straight to the problem and fix them.
I like too see where the study is playing-wise and design a custom learning plan for the student and his/her goals and help them reach their goals quicker with a planned practice schedule. I also start students off with reading which helps them better understand rhythm and being able to read music is a huge plus in todays music world. It also allows the student to get more done from practice sessions in my experience.
I always want the best for my students and want them to be able to go as far they want to go with drums. I like starting students off with reading since it helps with understanding rhythm and will make your practice time more well-spent. If you can read music you can get any drum book and just read through it,play like the stars. PRETTY COOL! I also teach hand technique which was taught to me from a direct student of JOE MORELLO. This technique helps with play faster and louder using less effort, getting a bigger sound and sounding over all better. Yes it's true!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
