I'm a passionate instructor that focuses on each individual's goals needed to further their love for music or to be audition ready at all times. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice and have continued my career with music. I believe my students will learn at their highest potential by personalizing each lesson around what they need. For example: if a student is interested in auditioning for College or specific ensembles or groups, I will incorporate the audition requirements into the lesson so they feel adequately prepared when they walk into their audition. Typically I start with teaching the parts of the cello and showing the student how to sit and grab the cello. Next, I continue with the scale of D major and help with the left hand and train the ears for intonation. Finally, if the student shows more progress I start using a method. Read More

After this initial evaluation, I develop a personalized plan which addresses healthy vocal production and practice techniques which address the needs of the student. My love of teaching begins years ago from being a beginner student and helping my peers understand their instruments. In high school I was a section leader in marching and concert band for two years, leading sectional rehearsals and helping students one-on-one. Many of my peers started coming to me for costructive criticism and I would help them in a private lessons setting. In college this continued as I was in the studio with other saxophonists and in methods classes with other musicians. Read More

For beginning learners, I attach great importance to the sitting position and ear training, so paying attention to intonation and awareness of sitting position when playing the cello is my primary consideration. For intermediate students who study for more than one year, I will pay more attention to left-handed skills and students' mastery of the bowing. For advanced players, I will focus more on musical interpretation and comprehensive techniques.
