I use the Rubank Method for beginning, intermediate, and advanced clarinet and Saxophone. This series emphasizes the simple concepts to the advanced fundamentals, i.e. rhythm, articulation, breath support, fingerings. The lesson plans are incorporated in the Rubank Method with an easy progression through the fundamental starting with whole notes, half notes, quarter notes and simple to complex rhythms. I love hearing a student improve in their music. I love not only hearing them play but seeing them grow as a person. Music is an incredible powerful gift that can be used in so many different ways. For young beginners, I use a lot of the Suzuki Method of teaching. Music games, pitch recognition and rhythms are all introduced as games during the lessons. My adults study from a combination of pieces, exercises, scales and duets. I think understanding the pieces you are playing is important so students learn how to recognize key signatures and time signatures. I have many students participate in school orchestra and youth orchestra programs so students are coached on how to prepare, how to audition and learn how to cope with nerves. Read More
