I'm a passionate instructor that focuses on each individual's goals needed to further their love for music or to be audition ready at all times. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice and have continued my career with music. I believe my students will learn at their highest potential by personalizing each lesson around what they need. For example: if a student is interested in auditioning for College or specific ensembles or groups, I will incorporate the audition requirements into the lesson so they feel adequately prepared when they walk into their audition. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum. I have now taught over 200 students ages 4 to 64 a wide variety of music-related subjects, including: piano, guitar, bass, voice, music theory, D.A.W. and notation software, and contemporary songwriting. Vocal technique, including breath support, pitch, range, tone, and style are important for every singer. However, each student is not the same, and it is important to help a student find their natural voice and work from there. A huge part of becoming a better singer has to do with building confidence. Confidence comes from having little successes and getting in touch with one's own natural sound. Then wonderful new sounds and feelings can be built from there. Read More

Everyone has heard horror stories of music lessons that they were forced to take with teachers who forced students to play music they were not interested in. I whole heartily believe that this is the fastest way to severe a student's relationship with creating music. The musical education process should be one that the student enjoys and wants to nurture to become the best musician they can! Depending on the level of the student and the instrument, I begin with fundamentals such as scales and note names, to foster a better musical understanding, while simultaneously including music that the student can enjoy that ties in with the fundamentals we are currently working on. As the head of the non-major voice lessons, I organized recitals and helped students to successfully perform for their peers; I believe that public performance is often overlooked in private studios, so I do my best to provide perfoming opportunities for my students. I love teaching all genres of singing: classical, musical theater, pop, country, soul, RB, and many others. As long as we can find good quality music, we can work on any singing style that you want!
