Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar Ukulele
I started teaching private guitar and bass lessons in my early twenties. As an instructor, I understand first-hand how important it is to have patience while learning because it doesn't happen overnight. However, with time, practice and consistency you'll keep the momentum going all the while achieving noticeable improvement. I get extreme satisfaction of bringing along novice guitar and bass players, as it reminds me of when I first started. Read More
Instruments: Flute Piccolo
For elementary students and some middle schoolers, I usually either work out of Standard of Excellence or Essential Elements book 1 to begin their studies or continue where they left off. For high schoolers and more advanced middle schoolers, I like to have them play solo flute pieces that fit with their ability level. If the student is in band at school, I also work through that music with them if they are interested. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Euphonium
For beginning students who are children, I start with Standard of Excellence by Bruce Pearson. This is a great, simple and streamlined approach to developing instrument technique and music reading skills. In addition to Pearson, I use my own lesson plans and materials which are primarily informed by the H.L. Clarke method. For intermediates and above , I use the H.L. Clarke, James Stamp, and J.B. Arban methods variously. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I have been teaching voice students for 5 years. I like to focus on building good technique for any style of singing, with classical singing technique being the basis of that. For my younger students, I particularly like to focus on building good practicing habits and helping them learn how to be self starting and disciplined. I've always believed that learning an instrument is a life tool, not just a hobby! Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
I am a passionate elementary school music educator who can "technically" play most instruments but trumpet was first in my heart when started playing it in 4th grade! I continued with it growing up and all the way through college where I graduated with a bachelor of science in music education K-12. I am currently in my 7th year of teaching elementary general music, chorus, beginner band. I love working with elementary students during their group lessons for band, however, I also enjoy working on higher level trumpet material for middle or high school students who want to prepare for auditions or improve their playing throughout school or their personal music journey! I’m a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and Indiana State University, and I’m active as a composer, arranger, trumpet player, and conductor around the Northeast United States. I’m also currently a Middle school music teacher in RI, and I help run summer camp programs for student leaders in high school band programs. Read More
