Overview:
I have been teaching private lessons since 2006 and love doing so. I volunteered at my arts high school for 2 years helping with all of the Jazz Band, AP Music Theory, and private instruction in multiple instruments. In 2009 I graduated from Cooperative Arts & Humanities Magnet High School focusing in Music. During my time there I also took AP Music Theory classes, as well as attended 2 summer and winter programs through the Yale School of Music. I then went onto the University of Bridgeport where in 2013 I received my Bachelors of Music with a focus on Education. During my time studying music I have learned countless instruments, methods, producing, reocridng, studio work, and more. I have played with multiple bands over 100 shows, in multiple states as well as composing for Jingles, Television, Film, The internet and Video Games. I love teaching and hope to teach my entire life. My dream goal is to own a better version of a music studio while teaching and recording music!
EXPERIENCE
As I said above I've been teaching private lessons since 2006, volunteered at my high school, was the assitant in many of my music classes at University of Bridgeport. I've played at such venues as: The Shubert Theater, Toad’s PLace, The Bridgeport Bluefish Stadium, The Webster Theater, Woolsey Hall & Sprague Hall at Yale School of Music. Worked with musicians, bands, and artists such as: Hilly Michaels, Dave Hart, James Moody, Jeffrey Johnson, Justin Tierney, G. Bliz, Mike Godette, Patrick Smith, Kurt Coble, Chris Coogan, Jeffrey Jones, Kurt Smith, NP2, Proof of Purchase & others I've taught an online Music Theory course on P2PU.org with over 131 participants and 100 followers. I also taught at a private music school for 2 years before they had to downsize due to financial reasons.
METHODS USED
I've actually written and produced my own music theory book that was in all Borders stores before they closed down. I've learned a few methods and I try to incorporate them all unless the student or parents wants something specific. My method is a method where I can teach 1 thing countless ways. I love my students to learn theory because it is a very important backbone to music. Some people can play instruments without ever really kwoing what they are playing or understand the theory behind it, and I think it holds them back from truely being creative and understanding of music.    With my methods students will be able to play from any genre, any book, and hopefully will be able to create their own music.
LESSON STYLE
The way I learned is the way I teach. I was taught the same way multiple ways and because of this I can give students different avenues to learn the same thing. So if they don't understand it in A, or B, I still have C, and D as a back up. I try to include the student to help navigate their own lesson plan and figure out what they want to focus on. Too many times a student is learning things they don't fully understand or even want to understand. having an open line of understanding and communication is something I value and hold dear to my teachings.
