Instruments: Voice
I have been told that I am a very energetic and encouraging teacher - I want my students to succeed and to be happy in their singing! I defintely will not stay seated behind the piano for the entire lesson. I like to get up and get involved! I won't ask students to try anything that I won't demonstrate myself first, which I have found usually puts them at ease (this is especially true with children and teens.) I have been a voice student myself for many years, so I know how it feels to be in their shoes, and I try to be as constructive and encouraging as possible while helping them discover their voice. I've seen the face of an 80 year old grasping the ukulele and finally getting to hear himself playing his own songs, and seeing the glow in his eyes like a child. When you set realistic goals and set what steps are going to get you there, all the while celebrating each little victory, every lesson depends on the needs of my student. I am currently teaching solely for the fun of it and the challenge in it, as it is not my main career or main project, but it is something I get a lot from, and I have found over the years, has helped a ton of people get back into picking up their instrument, and cutting out the world for a bit. Instruments: Flute Music
I had begun teaching flute lessons during my undergraduate degree, and have more than 10 years of experience. I have taught private lessons in my own studio, also at afterschool institutes/programs such as Orchepia School of Music in Diamond Bar, CA, and Kid's Orchestra in Baton Rouge, LA. Accomplishments of my students have include first chair in school band, top prizes in local competition, and principal flute in youth orchestras. Read More

I always approach teaching music in a relaxed and fun way. With the right teacher, learning music greatly rewarding and enjoyable. My teaching style is always based around my students experience level, their goals, and learning style. I always start with activities that are within the student's abilities, and carefully progress through more challenging pieces and exercises. This way, the student will always have a challenge that is achievable, not too difficult that makes them want to quit, and not to easy that makes them bored. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
I'm passionate about music and the guitar, and I strive to communicate and instill that passion in my students. I like my students to have lesson-to-lesson and long-term goals, and firmly believe in pushing my students to be the best they can be. I like to constantly ask my students questions so I'm more receptive to their thoughts and needs. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
Once I have identified students’ individualities, I acknowledge their strengths and focus my teaching on their weaknesses. For some, this may mean reevaluation of their posture and technique, as well as their consequent effects on tone production, shifting, intonation, and ease of playing. Many of the individual actions that make up technique can be broken down into several elements. The study of basics technical exercises is a practical way for students to overcome bad habits that have been ingrained over the years. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Saxophone
I like to create my own lesson plans and materials, though if the student (or their parent) would like a specific method, I would be happy to oblige. For beginner, I start with the fundamentals of reading music: reading note names in different registers, reading rhythms (I like to use the Eastman system for speaking rhythms), and sight-reading skills using movable do solfeggio (all this in a manner that suits the student, whether a child or an adult.
