My teaching experience started in 2009. Since then I have consistently taught students ranging from 3 years old to wise adults over 80 years. I generally teach in my home studio because I find students benefit much more than being at their home. I make exceptions for those with busy schedules (however I highly recommend having lessons outside your home). I believe it is really important to hone your craft on stage, in addition to constant practice in the studio and at home. I am a passionate and motivated teaching artist who enjoys working with children and adults. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Music at Loyola University New Orleans in the fall of 2017. Performing chamber music, playing in Orchestra, and special events for weddings and corporate events have been an exciting part of my life as a musician. I am not strict in one specific style. I try to be malleable in my approach as I get to know the habits and abilities of each individual. I've had students for whom I thought it best to be more rigid and repetitive drill based, while others seem to benefit from a more passive guru. It's a spectrum. My goal is to inspire and invigorate my students with the gift of music. Scales and fingering/vocal exercises can become boring and tiresome especially for new and younger students. I find ways to make these more mundane parts of the lesson fun with games and veiled learning that keep students engaged. Together we'll set realistic goals at each lesson and make sure we acknowledge at the end of the lesson how we've progressed and what we need to work on. Read More
