For those who are just starting on an instrument, I usually focus on basic technique. Bass and guitar are both physical instruments in their own way, and getting acclimated to the feel of it is key to having success on it. Teaching has always been apart of my career whether on the bandstand, the studio or in the classroom. When i graduated from Grambling State in 2013, i was hired as band director at MLK Jr High School in Ouachita Parish as well as two feeder elementary schools. I've learned that relating to the kids own musical experiences will help me expose them to detailed principles that they experience every time they listen to their favorite songs or watching their favorite movies.
