He has given masterclasses at FUNDARTE and Pelotas Federal University, and frequently presents masterclasses and coaches chamber music and orchestra sectionals to the Orquestra Jovem Recanto Maestro in Brazil. I am an enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructor who loves sharing my love of music with students. In 2011 I graduated from Haverford College as a Music Minor and History Major. I write songs constantly and have performed hundreds of times as both a solo artist and with bands that I have formed. I have performed in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, North Carolina, Texas and Louisiana. I always try to bring my own performing experiences into the studio, as I believe this is beneficial to my students. I am not strict in one specific style. I try to be malleable in my approach as I get to know the habits and abilities of each individual. I've had students for whom I thought it best to be more rigid and repetitive drill based, while others seem to benefit from a more passive guru. It's a spectrum. Always, though, I try to control the pace of the session, to speak thoughtfully, honestly, and constructively whilst always maintaining the utmost respect for the struggles that a student is facing. I begin with a basic rock approach to drumming that prepares students to enter a wide range of other musical styles. The first lessons focus on the fundamentals of drumming while still placing emphasis on musicality. If the fundamentals are not framed in a musical context, it is difficult for some students to stay excited and develop a passion for the drums. Unlike other instruments which focus on melodic creation, drums are rhythmic in nature which can make the learning process dull without music. Read More

For beginning students, I vary my teaching methods quite a bit. I often take on students in households that already have method books purchased, and I have never had an issue with using them. At times, more books are needed, but I will allow the student to utilize these already-owned options, as I myself will supplement extra music. Students will often mentally understand what they need to do, but the necessary motor skills take time and repetition to achieve their goals. Read More
