I defintely will not stay seated behind the piano for the entire lesson. I like to get up and get involved! I won't ask students to try anything that I won't demonstrate myself first, which I have found usually puts them at ease (this is especially true with children and teens.) I find ways to make these more mundane parts of the lesson fun with games and veiled learning that keep students engaged.
