I am not strict in one specific style. I try to be malleable in my approach as I get to know the habits and abilities of each individual. I've had students for whom I thought it best to be more rigid and repetitive drill based, while others seem to benefit from a more passive guru. It's a spectrum. Always, though, I try to control the pace of the session, to speak thoughtfully, honestly, and constructively whilst always maintaining the utmost respect for the struggles that a student is facing. I am a passionate and motivated music instructor who loves helping students and sharing my love of music with others. In 2013, I graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a minor in classical music. I have received lessons in piano, guitar, and bass for over 15 years and have had the privilege of studying with several known musicians from around the world. I started teaching music in 2009 by accident. I soon realized that teaching was my gift and passion. Read More

My teaching style is student-driven. I want to know what you are setting out to accomplish with your instrument of choice so I can help you to achieve your goals. There are many techniques I know that will help you to master basic skills on your instrument as well as the more individualized skills you will need to excel in your particular style of music. I can't wait to hear about what excites YOU most about music so I can help you to become the kind of musician you want to be. I do expect students to practice between lessons. Read More

As a kid, I really disliked my piano lessons. as a teacher I want to put an emphasis on having fun in my lessons, because music, as i've come to realize, is one of the most fun activities to partake in. that being said, it is essential to know the fundamentals and techniques, so I will most likely use method books such as Alfred's or Hal Leonard's, especially for people starting fresh. I have been teaching private lessons part time for about 15 years years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

My lessons are safe spaces, judgment free zones, and, most of all, a time to have fun. As a teacher, I always encourage my students to explore the wide world of music and find the artists and styles that really motivate them. I mix technical skill development (I've accumulated a number of exercise books and worksheets over the years) with playing along to the music you love—because that's how I learned! Read More

Most of all the rescources I use for my students can be found for free online. The most important things for any classical guitarist are: Mauro Giuliani’s right hand arpeggio studies, Matteo Carcassi’s Etudes, Fernando Sor’s etudes among exercises I’ve learned and created personally. Other great rescources are Scott Tennant’s Book “Pumping Nylon” and Pepe Romero’s book “La Guitarra”, which are about $20 a book. Read More
