For beginning students, i'll typically start with Suzuki books. It's important for students to learn the left and right hand separately before putting everything together. Once a student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I'll introduce some simpler solo repertoire appropriate for his or her skill level. For advanced, I'll be happy to talk about more advanced musical techniques and theories. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Bastien. If the student is older, we should progress relatively quickly and move onto more advanced books such as Piano Adventures. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. I am a musician in the New York City area that enjoys advancing the art of music by performing and teaching it. I graduated from Hunter College in 2013 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Perfomance. I have had a lot of experience playing with big bands, orchestras, and small jazz combos in beautiful performance halls as well as smaller venues geared towards small bands.
