There is no better reward than seeing my students develop a passion for music! My goal in lessons is primarily to equip students to know how to practice and have fun at the same time. Because that is the key for success ! The level of achivement in anything is a reflection of how well we were able to focus on it ! Because the only thing that is holding you back is the way you're thinking. Read More

For one, I focus on the importance of your ears, whether it be listening to your fellow musicians, being able to hear a common chord progression or basslines in a genre, transcribing basslines, etc. However, if we do end up using bass literature I will provide that, you will not have to acquire that on your own time. Another important element I encourage is good practicing techniques, and that means practicing with a metronome, transcribing, developing a good feel, performing as authentically as you can in the genre you are playing, tips on how to develop versatility, etc. Read More

For students who are children, I have a vareity of teaching style opportunities including the Suzuki Method, Essential Elements, Janice Rhoda's Complete Techniques, and other teaching methods. All of my students recieve education in music theory, rhythm, aural skills (voice/ear lessons), performance techniques, sight reading, and of course intrument technique. Children are very different from each other, and all of them learn in very different ways. My personal teaching style is whatever helps the student learn best. Read More

My teaching style is adaptive to each individual student's strenghts and weaknesses. I create lesson plans based off of skill level and learning type.Everyone learns at their own pace, and I make sure to cater to those individual needs.I am an educator who strongly believes in the power of music education, and how it relates to other aspects of life. I believe a fun environment is the first step in education, and through the proper balance of hard work and fun the students goals will be met. Read More

My musical experience began at a very young age when I used to listen to all sorts of music. When I first got to making music, I was around 19 years old, midway through college. I started composing electronic dance music and enrolled in courses to learn more while changing my college major. After graduation I had 2-3 years of electronic music experience, allowing me to get a few jobs and teach at Duke University's DMA camp, SamAsh Music Stores, Raleigh and Bach to Rock Academy, Apex. As mentioned above, I first began teaching guitar and piano during my college years. Also, I have taught music and English as a Second Language in North Carolina Public Schools, and guitar classes in community colleges. My instruction has included beginning to advanced elements of playing the guitar and music theory as it relates to the study of guitar. Additional areas of study included: different genres of music; playing rhythms of different song styles; understanding chord diagrams & reading tablature; and developing improvisation skills by learning how chords fit in a musical key, and relative scales. I’m a friendly and kind teacher, and I love sharing my love of Music with students both young and old. I studied at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London before going to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester at 18. As a student I began working as a freelance bassoonist, around the UK. I spent a good deal of time playing in the orchestra for choirs and amateur operatic societies. Read More
