Instruments: Trumpet
My approach is repertoire-based, meaning that we learn technique through the demands of particular pieces; I also teach strength-training exercises to help students develop their fullest potential on trumpet. Deriving inspiration from both classical and jazz methods, I also believe in exploring the physical capabilities and limitations of the instrument so that the player can develop a personal relationship to it. Indeed, this relationship forms the crux of true musical expression, which is the overarching goal of my teaching. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I'm an experienced and passionate voice teacher and singer who believes everyone can sing! My faculty positions at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and Concordia College of Music involved preparing many teenagers and undergrad level singers for performing careers, and I have a solid reputation for my Westchester studio that is always full of singers of all ages. I began my own opera singing at the age of 13 in 1980 and I was immediately enrolled in the Juilliard School Preparatory Division, marking the youngest voice student in the history of the conservatory. Instruments: Piano Voice Saxophone Flute Clarinet Music
Teaching music has been a part of my life for ten years. I have been teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute, and piano to all ages in many different parst of the country including Utah, New England, New Jersey, and New York. I encourage my students to practice developing good habits but also having fun. I love all types of music and try to make what ever music/band the student is passionate about a part of the lesson, making the lesson educational and enjoyable. Read More
Instruments: Drums Latin Percussion
I use many different methods but most importantly I tailor the lesson to fit the student's needs. I like to write out lessons, but I generally start my students off using Benny Greb's "The Language of Drumming." I like to teach the student how to play the instrument as if it were a language, in the form of an alphabet. It's a great method in building a strong foundation with the instrument. Read More
Instruments: Voice
Every lesson with every student is different. Every singer's needs change on a daily basis, and vocal exercises change to reflect what the student needs at that moment. Read More
Instruments: Electric Guitar
When teaching, I like to get to know just what my student is looking to achieve with these lessons. I include various handouts for the current lesson as well as next weeks lesson. It all depends on your level of playing. For beginners, I like to get you going on a number of finger exercises for both the right and left hands as well as an introduction to various simple chords that will allow you to start playing the basics quickly. Instruments: Bass Guitar Double Bass
Lessons are very relaxed and we will focus on ways to practice and getting the student to learn what he/she wants. Some people just want to come and learn a few tunes, some want to really learn the instrument and practice all the time. It all depends on the individual and I`m more than ready to adapt for each one of my students with the methods I have. Read More
