I began teaching when I was 17 and have a pretty busy schedule of up to 35 students a week! Many of those students still continue to take lessons after 3 years of instruction and have improved beyond their original goals. I find that each student has different interests (rock, jazz, classical, pop, etc.) which is why I enjoy focusing on what they want to learn. The most rewarding thing for a teacher is seeing the student progress, does not matter to me if it's perfect! Music takes time and practice and it's very much like a painting. You are not gonna be done in a whole day, you add a little everyday. I only ask my students to set aside 15-30 minutes a day to practice. Phase 6: Fingerpicking and Tapping Here we will explore the technique of fingerpicking. The student will use all the fingers on their right hand to the fullest extent and be able to play lovely music of many genres. We will also explore Finger Tapping, a style which uses both hands on the fretboard. This will help with electrifying solos as well as interesting acoustic solo pieces. Phase 7: Advanced Soloing and Improvisation At this point we have a masterful guitar player and are getting them ready for their big debut at Madison Square Garden :) In this phase we will expand the riffs we have learned into full length solos.
