Instruments: Trumpet Music
I was fortunate enough to begin teaching private lessons part time while in high school. Within the last few years I have had the pleasure of teaching students on a consistent basis. I encourage all of my students to practice regularly as learning music is a process and takes time to develop like any other skill. I have learned through many different teaching situations how to keep a student motivated through hard work while having fun! Read More
Instruments: Trombone Euphonium
I find the most important thing to teaching lessons is making sure the student is improving on a week to week basis, but is also having fun at the same time! After all, if what your doing isn't fun, why do it? The easiest way to have fun is to play and work on music that the student wants to play, It can't all be etudes and exercises can it? Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Euphonium Tuba Music
I am a high energy trombonist looking to spread some artistic expression to students of any age. I graduated from the University of Iowa in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Trombone Performance with an additional K-12 Music Education Certification. I marched 6 years of world class drum and bugle corps with the Colts in Iowa, was the drum major in my final two years and was also the featured trombone soloist in my second year as drum major. Instruments: Piano Saxophone Music
My teaching style revolves from teaching the music, not just the instrument. As a result, even if the student eventually becomes technically unavailable, he/she can still listen to great musical details and appreciate the sound world with depth and understanding. I expect my students to learn more on their own than from myself because I teach the way to learn in addition to the way to play. Students shall express their goals in the short, medium, and long term. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I have been teaching piano since 2005 and been very active in Greater Boston area since 2014. I've had students aged from 4 to mid-50. I also worked as a tutor at Berklee College of Music during my study. Dicipline may be the most important thing to emphasize in the very beginning stage of learning. But I see learning piano more as a creative process, encouraging students to have a personal connection with the instrument by introducing songs they know, helping them to write simple songs and so on. Instruments: Violin Viola
For my beginning students, I typically start with scales, then some technical exercises that usually come from Simon Fischer Basics book, and a short piece that employ one of the scales with the techniques. Once the student understands the fundamentals, I introduce solo repertoire that is considered essential to know for their instrument as well as sight-reading techniques. Once the student becomes more advanced, I show them works that I believe will peak their interest along with pieces that are overlooked such as pieces by women or minority composers. Read More
