I design curriculum and select repertoire based entirely on the unique position of each student. As a result, the methods I employ vary widely from student to student. In general, I help students to identify and scrutinize areas in which they hope to grow, and systematize methods for development in those areas. The first lesson always begins with asking a new student to play something for me. I have exceptional experience in teaching little children learning their first instruments to upper grade students who are serious about studying music in college. I strongly believe that every human being is capable of singing. Each person has something to say with their own unique sound. To get that sound out we just need to revert back to the simple tools that we all possess from speech, such as yells or cries, shouts, sirens, slides, and inflection.
