For students who are starting off, no matter their age, I will first test their range so that I know what I am working with and then I will test how well they can match pitch. If they struggle with matching pitch I will then run exercises with them where we will start going over solfege in simple patterns so that they can start developing their voice and an understanding of pitches and a scale. Every student is unique in how they approach and respond to music, so I make it a point to teach each individual student at their own pace. I also try to gauge what motivates and excites them, which allows me to better help them grow and develop in desired areas. Knowing these areas will help make lessons more fun, engaging, and rewarding for the students. When teaching adult students, I will accommodate them based on their goals, needs, and skill level. I am a passionate bass vocalist who has had the fortune of performing around the country with opera companies such as Wolf Trap Opera, Philadelphia Opera, and Michigan Opera Theatre. Throughout my travels, I have learned and seen what it takes to be a truly great opera singer. I take this discipline in performance and travel to my career as an educator. As your instructor, I would first listen to what makes your voice truly magnificent. Read More

I believe that every student is unique, they develop at a different pace and different levels, have different ideas and pursue different goals. By working with a broad selection of methods I can better address the different needs and challenges of every student and provide them with an individual program to help them reach their goals faster. I have also noticed that by mixing different methodical systems I can attain the students attention and keep them interested in practicing as opposing to only using one method, which sometimes becomes tiresome for the students and they get complacent. I've been teaching for over 10 years privately. Through my music career I've played in musicals, events, concerts and many more. My students' ages vary from 4 years old to others in their sixties. I have recorded records in professional studios, TV programs and have helped in many churches on improving their worship teams as well. I can not only teach a student the technique or musical aspects about an instrument but also help them and guide them in the logistics of performing, preparing and much more Read More

My teaching method depends on what the student wants to learn, if they prefer to start learning songs first that is fine but I will still make sure to cover basic music principles in early lessons and incorporate them into the lessons. I can also start with method books but I have found that students don't always want to start there. For students that want a well rounded approach I will combine one of the common method books with simple songs and chords that the student can get going on right away. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 3 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of technique and musicality can go a long way in helping students enjoy the drums and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
