I have over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages from beginner to advanced. I started piano lessons at age 5 and voice lessons at age 14 and continued through college at Smith College, studying with Monica Jakuc and Kenneth Fearn for piano and Jane Bryden for voice. For younger students (under eight years old) I usually use the Alfred all in one book.. for older children, I use the Bastian set of four books: piano performance, technic and theory. I have been teaching since I was 18 towards the end of High School. I taught lessons part time through college and since graduating college have maintained a steady roster of students. I focus on getting to know and understand each student and their goals to customize lesson plans for that individual, all while covering the essential and important fundamentals. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Music Education, K-12, with minors in Jazz and Performance.
