Course Work: private
I have nearly 20 years experience playing drums and over 30 in music. I started playing guitar at age 8 and then drums at 22, which has given me a very well rounded knowledge of music. As a drummer, I have toured, have done session work and studied with some of the top drummers in New York and Vermont. I have a wide variety of knowledge about both new and vintage drum equipment, as well as studio equipment and more. I bring all of this knowledge and more to you the student, through my drum lessons.
I have been teaching drums for 3 years and have found that teaching book work, but keeping it light and fun is a great way to keep students engaged and motivated. If the student isn't having fun then I am not doing my job. I both play and teach many different styles and can give advice on drum kits and cymbals, sticks, tuning and more. We will go over things like technique, rudiments etc while also learning songs, melody and song structure. I can help you learn songs you want to play as well as how to write your own songs if you like. My goal is that every student not only learn to play the drums but also learn to love to play.
I like to create lessons geared towards each individual students needs. I work out of a few different books depending upon skill level. I try to gear the lessons towards the style of music the student likes while also teaching different techniques for a wide variety of music. I like to use rudiments and stick control as warm up exercises and then also teach different grooves and rhythms through song. for beginner students I will teach drum kit basics like setup. tuning and how to replace drum heads etc as well.
I am a very passionate and enthusiastic teacher with a lot of patience. Every student is different and learns at their own pace. We set realistic goals based on the individual student. i like to begin each lesson with a warm up of rudiments and stick control, work on the lesson of the day and end with something we know well to make every lesson fun, productive and keep each student wanting to learn more, I tend to be more of an easy going teacher. Its very rewarding to be able to help a student develop a love of music through an instrument,
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
