I have been playing the flute since I was 8 years old, which gives me over 25 years playing and performance experience. I have performed in many ensembles and have also performed solo. My overarching goal in my teaching is to instill a passion for music. Every student is different and has there own unique learning style, and I like to be able to structure each lesson to best fit the learning styles of the student. Every student learns and progresses at there own pace, and will adjust to the pace of every individual student. I like to set specific and accomplishable goals with each student, so that they can see their progression and accomplishments for themselves right away. Read More

I am very passionate about teaching, and I encourage my students to figure out what music means to them and how they wish to pursue music in their future as I begin to create a customized lesson curriculum for each individual student. During our first lesson, I will ask what inspires the student so that I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. From there, I will work to set realistic goals for my students at each lesson in terms of fundamental training and the repertoire we work on. Read More

I’ve had many wonderful mentors in my musical journey over the years, and I would love nothing more than to replicate the experiences that I’ve had for others! My first experience teaching began in 2014 when I began working marching band camps as the flute tech. I was responsible for helping the students learn marching fundamentals and drill for the show, in addition to running music related sectionals with the flute section daily. I started teaching privately in the fall of 2017, teaching middle school and high school students. At NYU, I am an Adjunct Flute Instructor teaching non-music majors flute lessons, and have had a wide range of students at NYU - beginners all the way to advance players. Read More

I expect regular practice form my students and make them keep a chart of their practice hours per week. This helps them to better cultivate their goals and help them advance faster. Also, smart practice... splitting the phrases of the music to make each section clean, etc. ... is a good way to get a student rwally thinking about how the music should sound, and thus increasing their curiosity and passion for their instrument.
