My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school when I would help students in my high school band program with audition repertoire and other flute issues. I began teaching privately in high school, and I have continued since. Right now, I am an Adjunct Instructor in Flute at New York University, where I teach undergraduate NYU students private lessons. While Joey loves to preform, he is passionate about teaching. He has been teaching since 2011. His teaching career began through the non-profit Bravo Waukegan in their Bravo Buddies Summer Camp. He began as the woodwind instructor and through the years worked to become the Artistic Director, managing all aspects of the month long camp. Joey has also served as the Director of Bands for Sistema Ravinia in Lake County and has worked as a teaching artist with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. I have a lot of orchestral experience due to the rigorous orchestra program that I attended at Bard Conservatory, but at the same time have explored a lot of the solo repertoire for flute, flute and piano as well as flute and orchestra.
