EXPERIENCE
Over the past ten years, I have had the privilege of working with students of all ages, and have been on faculty at the Manhattan School of Music Summer Program, the Larchmont Music Academy, All-Island Music, and an adjunct teaching instructor New York University’s Steinhardt School of Music. Alongside these institutions, I have maintained and increased my private home studio located in the west village in NYC. Through my experience, I understand the importance of consistant practice, and the need for students to set musicals goals for themselves including: recording, competitions, performing, composing, and collaboarting with others. I often compose, impovise, and play alongside my students, which makes lessons  interesting, fun, and relevant.
METHODS USED
For beginning students, I like to focus and builds traditional "executive skills" such as embochure, posture, hand position, ear training, and articulation. Once the student has a grasp of fundamentals, I introduce scales and solo repertoire appropriate to their development. For advanced students, I focus on building upon their knowledge of scales, etude methods, harmony and chordal progressions, as well as solo repertoire--while incorporating elements of improvisation, extended techniques, and electronics.  I play duets with each of my students regularly!
LESSON STYLE
I have been teaching for over fifteen years, having served on faculty at the Manhattan School of Music Summer Program and as a teaching artist at NYU. I received her B.M, Manhattan School of Music and M.M from New York University and feel extremely passionate about sharing my musical training and values with other flute lovers. Nothing is more rewarding than to get to work with students in music at all levels. During my lessons, I work on technical facility with a solid foundation with scales and harmony. I incorporate improvisation into everyday practice, remaining open to new musical ideas and finding what music excites the students most.
