I am an enthusiastic and talented music instructor who loves working with students and sharing my passion for music.  I graduated from the University of Mary Washington in the Fall of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.  I have a wide variety of musical talents, including theory, performance and composition.  My primary instrument is flute and I am comfortable teaching any age group and any skill level. For elementary students, I usually have them work out of Standard of Excellence books or Rubank Elementary method books and supplement them with fun popular music they enjoy to play. For middle school and high school students, I encourage them to work on appropriate solos, scales, and duets we can play together. I have developed a methodical system so that all aspects of flute playing are covered in a practical way that shows results from the first lesson. I started teaching private lessons during college, and I have consistently had a studio of students including elementary schoolers to adults. In my last semester of undergraduate studies, I student taught with an elementary and a high school band. My favorite thing to teach is flute lessons!
