I have been playing drums for almost 20 years now. At my alma mater, Philadelphia's University of the Arts, I studied under celebrated jazz drummer Marc Dicciani, where I played in his bucket-based percussion ensemble. Since graduating in 2015, I have taught private lessons with students throughout New Jersey and New York. I have played percussion for several musical productions as well. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and makes students eager to learn more. I have been drumming and performing music for nearly 30 years. I started out playing by ear at 5 years of age and shortly after received professional lessons. I became interested in a diverse variety of musical genres that grew as I did. There are many books I use, including Ted Reed's syncopation for all levels of students, but I focus most of my time with a student to finding out what inspires them to want to learn the drums, and go from there.
