My teaching experience actually began when I was a teenager, when I taught my little brother drum set; he became adept enough to form his own rock band when he was a teen! I have been performing for over 40 years. I started my teaching career over 15 years ago.Drums have been my life, and it gives me great pleasure to introduce these skills to young people and adults, and help them express themselves and become proficient, confident drummers.. Prior to enrolling in a music school, I developed an unexpected interest in teaching. Assisting struggling peers brought self awareness and inevitably made me, as well as the overall group better, allowing me to understand a connection between music performance and education. Time spent at the school of music, teaching or exchanging ideas and skills between peers solidified my thoughts, the exchange between student and teacher is mutually beneficial at any level. 1.Lessons should be interesting, easy to understand, and progressive while moving in step  with  curriculum goals, making us of current and traditional  books, multi media and real  time activities. 2. Some students respond more to one sense or another : sound, touch, sight.... hands on. use of computer methods to help. 3. Give bigger challenges to those that are exceptional. 4. Contemporary music is very exciting for symphonic or jazz band.  There is much music available for a young audience using current  movie and tv themes, African, Latin American & Brazilian & New Orleans rhythms as well as pop arrangements for concert band or jazz orchestra , march band &  percussion class . 5. I believe playing and teaching go hand in hand, seeing that the best teachers and educators are the ones that are actually out in the field making a living with that particular craft. I have had the opportunity to teach a lot of young children, teenagers and adult students over the years and it's still a privilege to be able to impact lives wherever possible and build student and teacher relationships. I don't believe that there is any single "right" way to make or produce music. Music is an international language that transcends boundaries of statehood, culture, and identity. As a South African, I was raised on the drumbeats and rhythms of traditional Zulu and Xhosa folk music. Upon moving to the UK, I received classical "western" training in drum kit, chorus, and piano. In my professional career, I learned the "rules" of recording and production, mastering Pro Tools under the tutelage of some of the finest producers in the business. Read More

My first experience with teaching dates back to high school. Our marching band needed some drummers so I offered to teach some classmates for $3 an hour! I've been teaching in music stores and privately for 25 years. My students love their lessons and usually study with me for many years. I make learning fun but also focus on developing well rounded musicians. Read More

I have been lucky enough to have been teaching for 45 years I have taught privately for a short period of time I also taught at Plainview high school as a drill instructor working with the students in the marching band and helping some of them prepare for nysma solos I really had a great time doing that for about a year and a half I taught at Sam Ash for group lessons for promotion the main thing that I like to do is get students to be proficient enough to be able to play two songs to be able to play in a band also too to be able to prepare for playing the band in whatever school they happen to be in college preparation audition preparation auditioning for America's got talent anything the student wants to do but the main thing that I really like to emphasize is having them be able to play to songs I like to teach all styles of music really working around with a student wants to do it's been really rewarding for me and it's always a great experience many of my students have gone on to play professionally and have achieved great technical skills it's great to see that happening. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
