I supplement this work with flash-cards to help with note recognition, sight-singing to aid understanding of how bass and treble complement each other. I also use composition to help students develop ownership of the skills they're acquiring. Nothing says "I know how to do this" like writing your own song. Thompson's First Grade is also the starting point for my 7, 8 and 9 year old students. They enjoy the melodies, and the challenge of combining hands. Read More

When it comes to teaching, the one constant look for in all of my students is a budding passion for music. For some, it may take more time to develop said passion, but that is okay! I firmly believe everybody has things they are good at, regardless of skill level, and I do everything in my power to hone in on those skills to make them the best they can be. Read More

My main goal is to always create a positive learning environment where questions and room for improvement will always be tolerated and encouraged. The best way for a student to learn is to feel at ease with their teachers and trust them to impart the best education possible and I guarantee to do that. It is essential for me that a student wants to practice and wants to learn because it will indubitably make them better. Read More

As the student progresses, I like to use Hanon exercises for developing finger strength, and classical repertory for use in performance. Read More

You can expect my lessons to be fun and casual. My goal is to keep you interested, motivated, and excited about learning the guitar. There will be no stiff, boring repetition drills or endless scales to perfect. My lessons are meant to teach you new material, offer insight, correct technique, answer questions, and encourage progress. Your job as a student is to take the information learned during each lesson and "practice, practice, practice" during the week. Read More
