I usually don't believe in rules. I never really followed the rules as a musician and just played how I felt because of my gift. I make music sound more colorful and bright and I can add any instrument to music and make it sound good. Technically, I would just teach beginners how to play whatever instrument they want to learn. For example, if you want to learn how to play the piano, I will sit down with you the first day and we will go over how to play the piano and you will automatically be playing notes and chords after the first session. I help each student to have the ability to play many different music styles and improvise in those styles. For my piano students who are children I like using Piano Adventures for beginners and advanced beginners,since it's offering multiple books for each subject and level(lessonbook,performance book,etc.).For more grown up ones or adults students I like using Alfred's methods,for example x22Adult All-In-One Course.Alfred's methods offer a variety of books, focusing on different needs according to the class set up.For drums I use Alfred's as well in conjunction with more speficic books such as Stick Control and Syncopation. If you are more interested in building a technique playing we can get very methodical studying from the books but if you really want to play, we are gonna play! A big part of my teaching is playing with the students or creating sequences (play alongs) so the student practices music in context.
