Music has been a part of my life from as early as I can remember. After graduating from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance, I have continued to perform and broaden my range of musical experiences through diverse engagement in both the classical and non-conventional realms. After graduating from the Conservatory, I taught privately and performed in the Boston area as well as touring throughout the United states. After moving to Maine, I was hired to teach private lessons and assist with faculty and student performances at Colby College. In addition to teaching at Colby, I performed with orchestras, jazz ensembles, pop bands and African drum ensembles in Maine & Europe. My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student. I have been teaching for more than 30 years, mostly in the public schools as well as privately. I have instructed large groups and ensembles, as well as smaller musical groups in and out of the public schools. Performing in various Jazz groups throughout the state has enhanced my teaching knowledge in the field of music education.
