I create my own lesson plans based off of the individual student. For voice students, we usually warm up, do technical exercises working on varying registers and techniques, and then work on repertoire. I often find the passages in a particular song that the student is struggling with and focus in on those, finding exercises to guide the student. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Bastien. If the student is older, we should progress relatively quickly and move onto more advanced books such as Piano Adventures. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. I like to incorporate listening and appreciation in those cases. I like to encourage creativity and share ideas that show the student they can create music of their own.
