For beginning students, I typically start with Suzuki repertories with classical cello training. I have received Suzuki training at Cleveland of the Institute of Music. I emphasize on scales and etudes which are foundations for cello playing. In addition, I will begin to introduce a solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance. I am a classically trained cellist and a winner of many awards. I have performed solo, chamber, and orchestra concerts throughout the US. My erformances in New York City include Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Steinway Hall, Cami Hall, Zankel Hall, The Open Center, The Tibetan House, and Avery Fisher Hall. For beginners, I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books and Suzuki books 1-3 and supplement them with technical exercises. Once the student is comfortable with the fundamentals, I introduce appropriate cello solos and etude books. For children, I like to assign a well-rounded repertoire from various time periods and styles. Students of all ages can request to learn music that they find exciting.
