My mother influenced my life as a musician. In 1969 she encouraged me to audition for the Newark Boys Chorus. I auditioned. I was accepted and sang in choir-school for three years, singing music from Renaissance to R&B. In 1980 I received a BM and MMT from Oberlin Conservatory. At Oberlin I met three great teachers who encouraged me to sing professionally. I pursued the career! I have been consistently involved in teaching students, both in my home studio as private instructor and as a part of the program Learning On Stage in which I perform and share different Latin-American music styles to teach students from high school and middle school. My faculty positions at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and Concordia College of Music involved preparing many teenagers and undergrad level singers for performing careers, and I have a solid reputation for my Westchester studio that is always full of singers of all ages. I began my own opera singing at the age of 13 in 1980 and I was immediately enrolled in the Juilliard School Preparatory Division, marking the youngest voice student in the history of the conservatory.
