I come from a deep musical heritage and chose the trombone as my main instrument for spiritual reasons. While attending Los Angeles County High School for The Arts, I studied with jazz and trombone legends. Since moving to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, I've been studying with masters from many different disciplines. I currently live in NYC where i am studying percussion, tap dancing and yoga. My home functions perfectly as a 24 hour teaching studio. Read More

My teaching experience started as soon as I got into college teaching in music private school nearby, unfortunately due to my tight schedule with orchestra concerts and college I decreased the amount of students. When I was a senior in college I begun teaching middle school kids for one year and now as an Internship student at Temple I am a one of the bass faculty for CMSP (community music scholar program). We will do some playing together so i can determine what you've already gotten "under your hands". Or if you're a complete beginner we'll start from the beginning. I'll find out what your musical interests and inspirations are and we will incorporate that into the overall context of learning to play music well. We'll of course work on scales and arpeggios all over the bass, in various fingerings etc, and importantly, we'll talk about WHY we're doing it! (spoiler alert: it's because all musical sound is made up of notes, and once we can confidently access them, we'll be able to play anything we can hear) No area of the bass fingerboard will be a mystery. I like to let a student learn at his/her own pace, as long as they are focused and putting in the effort. If somebody is a complete beginner, we'll likely begin by learning about basic elements of music (pitch, rhythm) as well as basics of the instrument (tuning, right hand/left hand placement and technique). If the student has some experience with the instrument already, we can talk about what music they are interested in and what they hope to gain from taking lessons. Read More

In my opinion, love and art are the most beautiful human expressions and both of them merge in music. The music theory and technique are really important to achieve our musical goals, however, the most important thing is to have something to say and understand that music is a vehicle to express something beyond words. I teach my students to enjoy music and life through music and their instruments so they can be not just better musicians but good human beings. Read More

I am a working professional double bassist in the Chicago area. I was introduced to music lessons at an early age playing piano and then later introduced to bass, later picking up guitar as well. I have performed with numerous orchestras and bands over the years, most recently with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. In addition to Orchestral and Jazz playing, I have spent time composing and writing my own music. Read More

I always try to make our lessons less like a lecture and more like a jam session. When analyzing a piece of music, I strive to relay the importance of knowing exactly what you're playing. Through this, the student gains a deeper appreciate for the piece and music in general, as opposed to just cycling through a chord progression. Most lessons consist of 1/3 technique and scales, and 2/3 repertoire. I always make sure to ask the students about what they like to listen to most because that will dictate which songs we learn during our lessons to make it more fun and relatable for them. Read More
