I am fully student centered! Music is a pleasure, and learning it should be as well. All genres of music deserve respect, and I am pleased to teach any and all. (I do have a special fondness for mixing styles.) Read More

I started in the year 2011. At the age of 18 I had a lot of contact with people who liked my music and therefore asked me if I could help them improve the way they perform music. Since then I have filled with great satisfaction to see how as I shared my knowledge people developed their abilities. Since 2013 I have been officially working as a music instructor with students of different ages. Read More

I am all about making sure that my students are receiving enthusiasm and inspiration. I think the best way is to customize every lesson to each student and their learning style. I like to create lesson plans/practice schedules so that my student and I can keep track of growth and accomplishing goals. I will help the student in whatever way I can to achieve their musical goals. I make myself available for any student. Read More

I believe that it's important to have heard a wide breadth of the kind of music that you might be interested in learning. As a jazz guitarist, and as a student of classical composition, it has been drilled into my head by scores of teachers (no pun intended!) that careful listening is the first (and most important) step in the process of learning. I would go home from guitar lessons in high school with handfuls of CDs, and feel that it is important to pass on a knowledge of the history of a given kind of music, whether it's afro-cuban jazz, R&B, classical, western swing, or prog rock! My first priority as a teacher is to find out what the student is interested in. Why do they want to play? What music do they like? What are they hoping to accomplish? That is always my starting point. From there, I help the students reach their individual goals, while also teaching a basic curriculum I have designed myself in order to give the students the skills and knowledge all players require. My teaching style relies heavily upon training the ear to dissect what it is hearing. Developing the ear is crucial to being a self-reliant musician. In drums, the visualization how a rhythm works in time is essential to being able to perform that rhythm. Dissection and mapping are the key to furthering one's abilities on the drum kit. In guitar or in piano, being able to isolate frequencies with your ear will lead you to a more accurate understanding for chord structures and progressions than simply looking up tabs, which are often deeply flawed. My favorite way to learn is my working towards a song that I love. I always ask my students what specific song they want to play, and then structure my lessons around the building blocks of that song: chords, rhythm, melody, etc. I understand that a lot of guitarists do not care much for the nitty gritty of music theory (especially for rock and such), and while I am admittedly a huge theory nerd I am willing to overlook theory for a more feel-based approach.
