The method book I use often depends on the level of the student and what we are specifically working on, especially when it comes to percussion. In lessons, I typically use a book and then supplement it with other exercises or music. A former teacher of mine taught me how to create exercises for whatever I was struggling with when I was in 8th grade. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Faber Piano Adventures. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adults, I start with the Faber Adult Series as well as find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
