I love seeing my students find a love for music and develop skills they never thought they had. I love seeing them recognize how difficult singing is, but that they can do it. I love working one-on-one with my students and developing a relationship with them so I can better teach them and understand how they work as a person. I love rewarding students of teaching them songs that they like of their choice. I do not force anything on the kids and keep it to where they lose interest since they constantly practice all the time, or get frustrated if they hit a road block as they progress. I'm a Tarleton State University graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. I have the ability to play and teach all brass instruments, with some voice, percussion, and piano instruction. I have completed my student teaching internship at Dublin and Hico ISDs (Elementary, Middle, HS Band) in 2012 and have worked as a music teacher in various charter schools. For all my cello students, I start with 170 Foundation Studies and a modified Suzuki Method (Cello). Once my students reach Suzuki book 4, then they can start playing Bach Suites, and other intermediate repertoir. The Bach Suites, however, are what most of my cello students are interested in learning. For piano students, I use the Bastien piano series by Neil Kjos. I want my students to be interested and engaged, and coach them through basics while also trying to find pieces or genres they want to play. Read More
