I'm relatively new to the teaching life, but I love it regardless. I started in September of 2018 with one student who I taught throughout the semester, and seeing him grow throughout the months was satisfying unlike anything else I've experienced. I taught one student a semester due to my school commitments but still managed to teach them a lot and open their eyes to the world of music. I believe that teaching and passing down knowledge is how society gets better, including music. Read More

My experience as a music teacher has been simply giving beginner lessons to friends on the violin, or giving others a few lessons on music theory and application in piano and accordion. I have a deep love for learning and progression, both in myself and in others, and so I enjoy even the tedious moments of a student's progression as a musician. As a self-taught musician, I know what it takes, in terms of discipline, practice, and study, to learn and excel at an instrument, and I enjoy passing what I have discovered on to others. Read More

For beginning students (regardless of age instrument) I try to simplify the approach and work on a set of warm ups/exercises coupled with a performance piece or song that they can feel good about and lots of fun listening assignments. From there I have a few options of instruction methods that I tailor to the individual student. More intermediate/advanced students will not escape from some of the basics (metronome, scales, rudiments etc.) but will be met with many more choices of performance material based more on their individual goals. It is rewarding for me to see my students developing passion for music! Therefore, I believe it is important for students to progress at their own pace by setting realistic and proper goals/objectives. Believing that each student is unique, I enjoy getting to know my students in order to assess their strengths as well as areas for improvement. My school/group/private teaching experiences combined enhances me to relate and encourage students to adjust and set appropriate steps and goals to reach their full potentials. Read More

I believe that making progress in an enjoyable way is what keeps people most motivated, and I do my best to make that happen. While students will find that their progress is influenced by their practice habits, it's also my goal to make clear what effective practice looks like, what kinds of questions they might ask to figure things out, and how to be patient with themselves. In short, my job as a teacher is to help students become more effective at figuring things out, while paying attention to their level of motivation/enjoyment. Read More

In my piano lesson, I teach my student theory, sight-reading, aural skill, playing scales, and playing pieces from different time periods. Student will excel in piano study provided they practice consistently with the right attitude and mindset. I usually spene 2/3 time to use playing the piano and 1/3 for music theory.Music education helps develop lifetime skills such as self-discipline that helps with goal setting and task completion skills, improved concentration levels, self-esteem, patience, and joy!
