If there at level three but haven't touched 16th note triplets and go from there. When it comes to drills/exercises/scales/etc., I try to use challenging pieces to substitute for them as much as possible. This makes practice more enjoyable, and gives the student more pieces (as opposed to exercises) to play for family and friends while still building on their skills and keeping them challenged.
