Relocated to Chicago from Los Angles to make the Windy City my home, I’m also a state-credentialed (Illinois Professional Educator License) teacher with background music, education, and pedagogical thinking. I infuse the lessons I bring to my students with instructional methods that are interesting, engaging, and most of all, fun and personalized, tailored to your needs and interests. As a passionate musician, a dedicated and skilled guitar player, and as a formally trained educator, my mission is to help others not only learn the instrument but find the love, passion, and endless, immeasurable joy that the guitar provides. I currently play drums for the hit Broadway musical (non-union version) of Rock of Ages and when I'm not on the road; I'm teaching. I’m an avid columnist for Modern Drummer Magazine and I sing/play guitar for one of Chicago's best Nirvana tributes called Smells Like Nirvana. I studied at Berklee College of Music and I have a huge passion for teaching. I offer the option for students to get their lessons recorded via audio/video so they have a reference to stay on task for their next lesson. Read More

My style is largely based on my passion to create a comfortable environment and rewarding lesson plan for my students. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.. Read More

I'm a young professional bassist living in Chicago and am now fully submerged in the world of entertainment. I've traveled to all 7 continents after working in a cruise ship band for 3 years. Now I'm settled in the River North neighborhood and looking to pick up students who want to make great music and learn about advanced techniques and possibilities of their instrument. I'm a classically trained jazz major who has played in rock bands, punk bands, pop bands, and musical theater pits over 20 years of professional playing. Read More

The first lesson is always partly an interview so I can understand exactly what the student's goals are. I typically establish good posture and breathing habits (or bowing and fingering, if violin) first and then move on to essential warm-up exercises. Those exercises then become their regular homework, to hopefully be practiced multiple times a week or if possible, every day. I remind the student of breathing and posture regularly - good habits are the goal! Read More

I started teaching at the age of 18. I taught teenagers about music theory, and how to apply it with an instrument that each teenager would be interested in. I made it fun for every teenager. I liked teaching teenagers about the importance of music. I have been teaching the students for 2 years. Ever since then i always had a passion of teaching and would do at my best to accomplish the requirements I have established for each and everyone one of them. Read More

My preferred method for very young students has been the Suzuki method, as I believe a well trained ear continues to be our best musical learning tool later in life as well. When students progress to reading, the full line of Suzuki books can of course be utilized, but it is very advisable to incorporate additional materials and techniques. The Kodaly method is also useful and even more traditional 'reading first' techniques can be used if requested. Read More
