I strongly believe is positive reinforcement methods. I will work with each student pending on the learning style they need and type of music they are interested in. Also, I try to engage and get the student excited about what they are learning. This is important to progress and keeping them interested in what they do. In relation to teaching any subject area, I strongly believe that students should be taught the basics or fundamentals, and then guided and encouraged to apply and share concepts learned to various scenarios related to the subject area. Written by a couple who are educated both in music as well as child development, I believe that this is a great mix of developmentally appropriate pacing and fun. It all started when I took my first drum lesson in the 4th grade. From then on, I wanted to play whenever I could. I played in all my school bands from middle school to high school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13.
